I have an incredibly happy sage plant.
I have a food dehydrator.
I have a mortar and pestle.

See where this is going?

I broke off a few branches, washed the leaves, put the undamaged ones in the dehydrator.
I missed a couple and it really sped up the bug eating process.

The smaller ones dried crispy after about 24 hours and those I've already ground.
The bigger ones are going brown and crispy, but they're taking a whole lot longer than I thought they would.
I've bumped the temperature up a bit, though I'm worried about going too fast.

The whole process smells amazing.

And the best bit? I've now used some of my fresh dried/ground sage in tonight's casserole.

That's so satisfying. I've always been of the opinion that the best tasting herbs are the ones you grow yourself.
